Details

This is the ultimate French cycling holiday, starting in Nice and finishing in Annecy, timed to perfection to watch the Tour de France on the iconic 21 bends of Alpe d’Huez. We ride through lavender and sunflower fields, visit honey coloured Provençal villages and conquer the mighty Mont Ventoux. We traverse the French Alps, tackling the famous climbs and immersing ourselves in French culture, food & wine along the way. We finish at the picturesque & historic lakeside town of Annecy, surrounded by mountains. It’s a cyclists dream, timed to perfection to see 2 stages of the 2022 Tour de France.

Terrain Mountainous with an average altitude of 1500m per day, with some consecutive days 2000m+ as we ride through the Alps.

Group Size Medium sized group up to 18 cyclists.

Accomodation A mix of hotels (7-8 nights) and camping (7-8 nights).

Start/Finish Meet in Nice, Finish in Annecy. Nice is easily accessible with an international airport and TGV station. Annecy has a major rail station for connections to Paris/Lyon and is a 1hr drive to Geneva airport.

Exclusions Your bike & spare parts, travel to start/finish hotel, alcoholic & specialty beverages not included in group meals, other breakfasts/lunches/dinners not included in the Tour. Cycle kit available for purchase prior to the Tour.

Tour Highlights

We start in Nice, the jewell of the mediterranean with the first day’s riding in the beautiful hinterland of the Côte d’Azur, including the stunning Verdon Gorge, with its aquamarine waters and cliff edge rocks.

Cycling through Provence! Perched villages, medieval towns, lavender and sunflower fields and honey-coloured villages. Crisp rosé and the Provençal cuisine - bursting with colour and flavour. We take you to some of our favourite restaurants in France.

Riding Mont Ventoux and the epic climbs of the French Alps: Alpe d’Huez, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col d’Ornon, Col de Chaussy (Lacets de Montvernier), Col de la Madeleine, Col de la Forclaz and many more! This trip really is a mountain climbers dream!!

See the Tour de France on the famous 21 hairpin bends of Alpe d’Huez! This truly is a party on the side of the mountain and in our mind, one of the best locations to see the Tour de France! Watching the Tour de France on Alpe d’Huez is an experience you will never forget!
